Topek and Topek Flat Roofing Scale New Heights

27th July 2023

In a remarkable display of determination and camaraderie, a group of employees from Topek and Topek Flat Roofing took on the daunting challenge of scaling the mighty Ben Nevis as part of their well-being strategy for 2023. The ambitious endeavour not only aimed to promote healthy living but also pushed the participants to their limits, encouraging them to step out of their comfort zones and conquer one of the UK’s greatest peaks.

Undertaking the climb in May, the team faced an uphill battle against extreme weather conditions, including gusty winds and snow at the summit. However, their collective spirit and unwavering support for one another proved to be the driving force that propelled them forward. With words of encouragement echoing amidst the rugged landscape, they stayed united and resilient, ensuring that every member of the team reached the pinnacle of Ben Nevis.

Among the memorable moments etched in their hearts were the comical falls that brought moments of levity to the challenging climb. Yet, it was the profound sense of achievement upon standing at the trig point, knowing they were the tallest people in the UK at that moment, that left an indelible mark on each participant’s memory. To add to their motivation, the team connected with the Head office in Cambuslang via video call, garnering cheers and applause from their colleagues, proving that their efforts were supported and celebrated by the entire organisation.

Topek and Topek Flat Roofing’s decision to support us was fuelled by their commitment to improve the wellbeing of their employees and all those within their industry.

Ross Glen, the Group SHEQ Manager, said “Every employee who works for or with Topek and Topek Flat Roofing is fully supported to get help if they are struggling in any way, with the management encouraging an open-door policy. The business fully understands the importance of mental health particularly with the recent difficult changes the country is going through such as covid and the rise in the cost of living. The business now runs monthly wellbeing days that are designed to ensure that all employees can focus on their own wel-being whilst at work. The business looks forward to continuing our support to the Lighthouse Charity and is already looking at new ways we can support this great cause”.

We want to thank everyone who was involved in the organisation and all those who took part in the terrific climb – we look forward to seeing what great adventure you come up with next!
