Teamwork Overseas

17th May 2021

As many of you will know, the Lighthouse Club Charity reaches across the globe and we wanted to share with you news about a fantastic new book, ‘Teamwork Overseas’, which is an illustrated history of the challenges of working overseas and shares memories of when Taylor Woodrow International was one of the best-known names in the construction industry.

All about the book

David Knowles was Taylor Woodrow International’s recruitment officer from 1971 to 1979 before he later established PRS Selection in 1989. David was often seen in the various overseas territories where major construction projects were being built and placed thousands of expatriates during his 50-year career, both with Taylor Woodrow and by serving many other renowned international contractors worldwide with their recruitment needs.

In January 2021 David and a few other former ‘Team Members’ of Taylor Woodrow International started to share their memories of a time in the past when Taylor Woodrow International was one of the best-known names in the construction industry operating around the globe. These amazing memories have now been expanded and produced in a new Book soon to be published titled ‘Teamwork Overseas’. They demonstrate in vivid clarity the personal challenges expatriates faced when working in construction overseas, how they and their families adapted to the different climate and cultures in these countries and highlight hundreds of incredible incidents, one extract by Colin Brady in Oman highlighting what expats had to overcome when working overseas in earlier times.

This 200-page collection of personal, real time memories has rarely been gathered in the past in such a readable format and is a must for any expatriate who enjoyed their careers in construction, especially overseas.
