It was a call to adventure for the ‘Fellowship of the Firm’ recently when T and D group recently, took on the challenging Watkins Path to ascent Mount Snowdon. Not for orcs and goblins this time, but for stunning views and a good cause. Construction company, T and D Group strapped on their hiking boots, tackling the challenging Watkins Path in a fundraising effort for our charity.
“We had a cracking time participating in Lighthouse Day,” wrote Harry Wilcox, a representative from T and D Group. “We wanted to share our experience with you and the Lighthouse team to showcase the spirit of the event!”
The choice of Watkins Path wasn’t random. “We were looking for a bit of a challenge that suited our group’s mixed abilities and love of adventure,” Harry explained. “Watkins Path offered stunning views and varied terrain, making it a right good time for everyone.”
The weather, however, seemed to have a mind of its own. “It was a true British adventure!” he delighted. “We experienced everything from torrential rain and strong winds to even a touch of snow on the way up. Luckily, the descent was blessed with lovely sunshine, adding another layer to the unforgettable experience.”
The original idea for the fundraiser centred on Mount Snowdon, but T and D Group craved a more unique challenge. “A few team members are massive Lord of the Rings fans,” said Harry, “so we decided to add a bit of fun by dressing up as characters from the film. It sparked a lot of conversations with other walkers and companies, raising awareness for Lighthouse Charity’s cause.”
The climb itself was filled with highlights. “Reaching the summit as a group was a moment of immense pride,” shared Harry. “Being recognised by fellow walkers for our costumes and congratulated on the adventure added to the experience.”
Another memorable moment came near the bottom of the mountain. “We found a beautiful waterfall bathed in sunshine,” he said. “A few brave souls decided to take a dip, only to be greeted by freezing cold water! Their hilarious dash back through the rocky terrain provided much amusement for the rest of the team.”
“As a construction firm,” Harry continued, “we understand the importance of Lighthouse Charity work in supporting our industry. Their ‘Help Inside the Hard Hat’ initiative resonates strongly with us, offering crucial resources and support to construction workers facing tough times. We wanted to contribute to a cause that directly impacts the well-being of our colleagues and the wider community.”
