Over 100 people in the Construction Community came together on 16th May to sign a 2-metre-tall pledge to commit to raising mental health awareness in our industry.
Lighthouse Club CEO Bill Hill spoke at the event, along with speakers from Bridgwater & Taunton College, New Leaf Life Design and THSP Health and Safety; providing practical examples of how to share information and raise awareness through Tool Box Talks, support services and Mental Health First Aiders.
By signing the pledge, businesses recognised the need to educate everyone in the industry to spot the signs and symptoms of colleagues that are suffering from stress, anxiety or depression, and to start the conversation to assist in their recovery.
Over £500 was also raised for us, to help keep our support services and 24/7 helpline running – thank you to everyone who attended.
Event organiser Becky Wright from New Leaf said;
“The conference was simply buzzing with energy. There was a real feeling that the audience wanted to engage with the subject of Mental Health and help to reduce the stigma which is why people don’t feel they can talk about the issue.”
