Skanstec, a company deeply committed to the wellbeing of its employees and maintaining a strong partnership with our charity recently organised a fundraising event during the bustling year-end period. The initiative, titled “Walk for Mental Wellbeing,” aimed to encourage employees to embrace outdoor activities for their overall health and support employee wellbeing.
Skanstec pledged to donate €1 to us for every kilometre covered by team members during the month of November. The choice of walking and running as the primary activity stemmed from the belief that these activities serve as excellent ways to unwind from work, offering a clear transition between professional and personal life. It also provided motivation to incorporate walks into lunch breaks, fostering physical activity and exposure to sunlight, particularly during the darker months.
The event garnered substantial engagement, with offices actively participating and competing for the coveted title of the highest average kilometres covered. In a friendly competition, the Portugal office emerged as the event champions, showcasing commendable dedication and enthusiasm.
When asked about their motivation to support usy, Skanstec expressed, “The Lighthouse Charity provides invaluable support to the industry, and we are happy to contribute in whatever way we can.” The fundraising event spanned across Skanstec’s Ireland, Portugal, and Denmark offices, fostering a sense of unity among team members across geographical locations.
Skanstec’s commitment to employee wellbeing, coupled with its innovative approach to fundraising, highlights the company’s dedication to making a positive impact on both its workforce and the broader community. The success of the initiative is evident in the total amount raised— an impressive €1531 which will go a long way towards providing essential support to the construction industry in Ireland and the UK.
