The Scotland West 58th Annual Dinner proved to be a resounding success at the Voco Grand Central Hotel. The event, proudly sponsored by GAP Group Limited, a thriving Glasgow-born business supporting our charity both nationally and locally, was filled with laughter, entertainment, and generous contributions.
The lively night in Glasgow featured entertainment by Willie Allan from Dunfermline, who skilfully lightened the atmosphere after the Live Auction provided by Charity Fundraising Auctions. The auction showcased an excellent array of prizes for guests to bid on throughout the night. The festivities continued with the spirited performance of kilted entertainer Billy Kirkwood, concluding the evening with an upbeat set and engaging audience participation before networking opportunities took centre stage.
A special moment during the evening was the Committee’s presentation of a token of appreciation to retiring past chairman John Barnard. Having dedicated over 20 years to supporting our charity’s work in the west, John received a local produce bottle and a magnificent silver cocktail shaker shaped like a lighthouse.
The event aimed not only to raise funds but also to provide an enjoyable experience for all attendees, fostering connections and bolstering support for our charity. The Committee expressed their gratitude for the continued support and hoped that everyone in attendance had a memorable time, reconnecting with old friends and making new ones. The event raised almost £30,000, a staggering amount which will directly contribute to our charity’s extensive range of services.
A special mention went to Adam Bruce, a life member of Lighthouse Club and a staunch supporter of the west branch’s work over many years. Adam attended as a guest for the evening with Eastford Excavations Ltd.
Acknowledgments are also extended to Blackwood Plant Hire Limited for their Make It Visible video, featuring their creatively wrapped Kobelco machine supported by Molson Group. The initiative aims to raise £10,000 from the hires of the machine over the year 2023/24, showcasing the collaborative efforts of businesses and projects supporting the cause.
Scotland West are now encouraging everyone to watch out for details of the next dinner, taking place at the same venue next year.
