At 61 years old, ‘Ravi’ a Facilities Manager in full-time employment, was struggling with severe depression and loss of confidence. His mental health had taken a toll on his personal and work life, leaving him feeling overwhelmed and incapable of managing his daily responsibilities. Encouraged by his son, Ravi reached out to the Lighthouse Charity, hoping to find support that he desperately needed.
Once he’d contacted us, Ravi received a full wellbeing assessment. Recognising the depth of his struggles, he was quickly referred to counselling. The goal was to equip Ravi with the tools necessary to rebuild his confidence and address the underlying issues contributing to his depression.
Through his work with his counsellor, Ravi was able to identify and confront past issues that had been affecting his mental health, and improve his confidence.
He shared that the guidance he received was vital in his recovery, and with his new found confidence, Ravi applied for another job and was excited to get started. The counselling experience helped him open up to friends and family, something he had never done before, which strengthened his relationships and widened his support network.
Reflecting on his journey, Ravi said “The impact that Lighthouse Charity’s support had on my life was incredible, and I’m now encouraging my colleagues to seek help if they are struggling”.
