Paul Allman – London 10k

17th July 2017

Paul Allman is Group Board Director of The Hawk Group and has been involved in the construction plant sector for over 20 years. He has also been a long time member of the Lighthouse Club Charity and has recently become part of the team re-launching the Midlands Club taking on the role of Treasurer.

And if that’s not enough he’s just run the London 10k to raise much needed funds for us. Paul kindly wrote a few words about his experience so that we can share it with you.

I started running 5 years ago and have found it a good way to keep fit but also to relax after a hard day in the construction industry. I try and run at least twice a week and take part in half a dozen races every year.

This was the first time I’ve attempted the London 10k and it was a fantastic event. It was very well organised and a great experience with a lot of support from the crowd and bands playing all along the route.

The best part of the run was the atmosphere generated by the spectators that turned out to support everyone and also running along some of the iconic streets of a great city and running past London’s major landmarks. The worst was probably after around 8k when the heat started to take its toll, but I still managed to complete the course in 55minutes.

Once I’d finished the race, I was joined by my wife and children and together we enjoyed the bands and the sunshine in Trafalgar Square, not forgetting the celebratory beer on the train home!

I was very proud to take part in the London 10k to raise funds for the Lighthouse Club.

It is a fantastic cause and made all the effort worthwhile. A big thank-you to everybody who has donated so far and we are well on the way to raising over £1000.

Thank you Paul for all your efforts, we really appreciate it, keep up the running!
