NG Bailey Team Completes 100km Hike

8th October 2024

A group from NG Bailey recently braved the elements to complete a gruelling 100km hike across the Lake District, raising funds for our charity. The four-day event was planned to coincide with NG Bailey’s ‘Wellbeing Day’, underscoring the company’s focus on both physical and mental health.

Despite almost constant rain, the team enjoyed the challenge. “It was tough, but a really worthwhile experience,” said Dave Cowell, Project Director, who led the hike. The first day saw the wider NG Bailey project team join the walkers to show their support before the core team continued to tackle the 110km route, with 20,000 feet of ascent and nearly 19,500 feet of descent.

The fundraising effort was inspired by the nature of the challenge. “Once we had the walk mapped out, we knew it would push us, so we thought it was a great chance to raise money for a charity that’s really important to us,” Cowell explained.

The team, consisting of Dave Cowell, Jack Marsden, Tom Young, and Chris Wilson, were proud to take part in the event, with NG Bailey matching the funds raised. “It’s important to us to support our industry and our colleagues, especially when it comes to mental health,” added Cowell.
