At the recent 2023 annual NEC People conference, the group wanted to fundraise and partner with a charity associated with the construction industry. NEC People is a LinkedIn group with 11,000 members from the industry for people who use the NEC (New Engineering Contract) forms of contract.
A “Who wants to be an NEC millionaire?” style quiz was played by members of the audience. One member of NEC People, Glenn Hide, stated “Everything about the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity is in keeping with the NEC people values focusing on mental health and wellbeing, supporting the workforce and their families”.
At the conference, the hosts played two rounds of the quiz which got surprisingly competitive! Thanks to Niall Faris, Hezron Ricketts, Matthew Bines and Lesley Hunt (with a bit of help from ‘Ask the Audience’) they managed to raise £1400 for our charity. In addition, many new links were formed on the day and the group members are now aware of the many charitavble services we offer.
Glenn added that “The Lighthouse Charity provides an amazing service to the industry and we look forward to a lasting relationship supporting this invaluable cause. Thank you to everyone involved in putting together this event and all those who donated on the night. We look forward to continuing this partnership”.
