As the only charity in the industry to provide emotional, physical and financial support to construction workers and their families, Lighthouse does a fantastic job. In turn, we want to support them. That’s why we took part in the Lighthouse walk.
23 Multiplex staff took part in the 2022 Lighthouse walk in full PPE. The PPE allowed us to draw attention to the cause, raising awareness of Lighthouse and their work within the construction industry. On the back of the high vis vests worn were key facts and information about mental health in the construction industry and information about Lighthouse.
It took around 2.5 hours to complete the walk, from our head office in Bishopsgate, walking past all our current live projects and racking up a good 6.7miles! A few of the team, who work mainly in head office, were not used to wearing site boots and found this a huge challenge and developed a real understanding of what it’s like to be in full PPE for an extended period, and cover so much ground.
All participants said they enjoyed taking part and it was great to have directors sign up too, showing great leadership support. The main highlight of the day were the laughs had along the way and, most definitely, the refreshment points we had set up!
The team in Scotland also took on the challenge but took it up a notch, climbing Ben Nevis in full PPE! An amazing achievement!

Lighthouse receives no public funding, relying solely on the generosity of those within in the industry. That’s why we are proud to contribute, raising funds to support their vital work. We already have people signing up for the next Lighthouse walk we plan to do!
