It was a busy and fun afternoon at Morrisons in Moray as they took on the Lighthouse Day challenge with vigour.
The team organised a number of events to raise money including a raffle, a hook-a-duck plant challenge with an 8 ton excavator and a cake sale. They also managed to ‘persuade’ foreman, John Sinnott to get in the stocks and let the site team take aim with wet sponges. The best thrower of the day was probably Harry Taylor who had a good go at hitting John who not only is his foreman, but his stepfather too!
Despite the lure of splatting their foreman, the most popular event was the hook a duck plant challenge which was highly competitive as there was a prize for the person to hook 2 ducks in the fastest time. The winner was David Petrie who won a £50 M&S voucher as well as a bottle of whisky, model excavator, a mug and a Toblerone.
Roy Robb, Morrison’s Works Manager said, “We chose to raise money for the Lighthouse Charity as its relevant to everyone working on site, so we thought everyone could relate to the cause. It was an extremely enjoyable afternoon and although temperatures were freezing, everyone got involved and had a good time. It’s great to see everyone taking part and raising money for a good cause and hopefully it was a morale booster to all involved.”
There was also a serious note to the day as the team took part in a short first aid course and also a spill response and safety training session.
A fantastic £2814.64 was raised on the day with Galliford Try very generously matching the donation bringing the total to over £5500, a massive thank you to everyone that competed on the day, we hope you had a great time!
