McGee Mudders

14th May 2018

Team McGee put their strength and fitness to the test when they bravely signed up for a ten mile Tough Mudder. The team of 20 ‘volunteers’ were from various offices and sites and had different levels of fitness and strength.

With lots of vocal encouragement and plenty of physical assistance they managed to complete all the obstacles in front of them as a team. The course was extremely challenging and most of the 10 miles being uphill.

Particularly tricky obstacles included the Block Ness Monster, Electroshock Therapy and Everest which were great fun. especially as some of the team members were ‘electrocuted’ (nobody was in danger, just a little shocked!). The unanimous vote for the toughest obstacle of the day was Arctic Enema, which involved sliding down a pipe into a massive ice bath containing over 10,000lbs of ice and then having to completely submerge under an obstacle within the bath before they could exit. Brain freeze was taken to a whole new level!

Would we do it again? Well, with answers ranging from absolutely, to never again, so opinion is divided but we all agreed on the fact that it was a great experience and most importantly we raised over £2000 for the Lighthouse Club Charity, our charity partner for 2018 ”.

Simon Convery, one of the brave McGee Mudders said, “The camaraderie on display from not only the McGee mudders but from all participants was great and there was a real sense of achievement in just completing the course. The very refreshing and well earned beer at the finish line was most welcome!

We’d like to say a big muddy thank you to the McGee Mudders for such a great effort and for completing the course as a team. Well done to Simon, Bernard, Keith, Sofia, Kimberley, Ciaran, Javier, Brendan, Matthew, Michael J, Michael D, Trevell, Tara, Kevin, Ryan, James, Fergal, Iulian, Ben and Kamile!
