We’d like to say a huge thank you to our London Marathon and London Landmarks Half Marathon participants! Putting themselves to the test both physically and mentally, they have collectively raised a huge amount of money for us! Now they’ve had a chance to recover we’ve caught up with them to share their inspiring stories.
James Kettle – TCS London Marathon
James Kettle, tackling his first ever marathon shared his impressive feat: “I completed the TCS London Marathon in 3 hours, 36 minutes and 21 seconds, finishing 12,137th out of 50,000 runners – not too bad for a first attempt! Working in construction, I’m acutely aware of the daily pressures and traumas faced by those in the industry. The Lighthouse Charity is a vital resource offering support to improve emotional, physical, and financial wellbeing.”
Andrew Jones – TCS London Marathon
Andrew Jones completed the marathon too, expressing his gratitude: “Thank you to the Lighthouse Charity ! It was a pleasure running for such a fantastic cause. My day was brilliant, especially the first 15 miles. I slowed down a bit more than expected towards the end, but still finished in a net time of 5 hours and 6 minutes (4 hours and 57 minutes moving time, excluding those crucial toilet stops!). Now, it’s time for some well-deserved rest and sleep back in Cardiff.”
Ellis Simon – TCS London Marathon and London Landmarks Half Marathon
Ellis Simon doubled down on his commitment, participating in both the London Landmarks Half Marathon and the full TCS London Marathon: “Running for the Lighthouse Club is always a great experience, and seeing other runners supporting the charity made it even more special!” Ellis also highlighted a special moment during the TCS London Marathon: “My favourite part was bumping into James a few miles in, who was also running for the Lighthouse Club. We shared a few words, and it was incredibly encouraging!”
Luke Dance-Harvey – London Landmarks Half Marathon
Luke Dance-Harvey took on the London Landmarks Half Marathon, bringing his passion for mental health awareness with him: “I was delighted to participate in this year’s Half Marathon for the Lighthouse Charity. My football club, Ide Hill FC, takes pride in raising money for mental health causes, and I’m proud to be a part of that.”
Joanne Graham – London Landmarks Half Marathon
Joanne Graham described the electric atmosphere of the London Landmarks Half Marathon: “The event had an incredible buzz! I couldn’t believe how many people were there. The route showcased amazing landmarks, with cheering crowds almost the entire way. Running for charity definitely helped me stay focused during training. It kept me thinking about the cause, the people I might be helping, and who the Lighthouse Charity has already supported.”
These inspiring stories are a testament to the dedication and compassion of our runners. Thank you to James, Andrew, Ellis, Luke, Joanne, and everyone else who participated to support the Lighthouse Charity!
