Lorclon’s Lighthouse Day – Dingle Adventure Race

11th July 2017

Eight intrepid volunteers from Lorclon Civil Engineering bravely stepped up to complete the infamous Dingle Adventure Races for the Lorclon Lighthouse Day.

Gary Reilly, one of the brave participants sent us their story.

The Dingle Adventure Race takes place on the beautiful Dingle Peninsula in Ireland and involves a 43km course with a mixture of Running, Kayaking and cycling. I would say that the weather was most definitely NOT beautiful on the day of our challenge!

The kayaking element of the race was cancelled due to the weather conditions,  which in turn made the cycling part eventful at times with us cycling into full gale force winds.

By the time we had completed the climb part to the top of Mount Eagle the visibility was down to about one metre.

All in all it was tough but enjoyable and despite dreadful conditions, everyone finished in one piece. We all had a few well earned drinks afterwards in Dano’s bar.
