Irish Summer Lunch a Huge Success

22nd June 2022

Thursday, May 26th saw the re-launched Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity Ireland Summer Lunch take place for the first time in Croke Park, Dublin. Over 350 guests from the construction sector gathered for an afternoon of networking, laughter and fundraising to support the great work of the charity, organised by iQuest & Business Post LIVE and chaired by powerhouse, Ivan Yates.

Derek Murphy, Lighthouse Club Chair opened the event and welcomed all the guests, including Loretto Dalton, Joe Lambe, Ian Erskine, Tom O’Keeffe and Brian Daly of the Lighthouse Club. All five members of the club joined together to unveil the newly restored lighthouse monument. Lighthouse Regional Ambassador of Ireland, Colleen Milligan took to the stage to give the guests insight into the workings of the charity.

Between courses, Ivan chaired a spirited panel discussion which featured guest sports stars: Stephaine Roche, Irish Footballer, David Gillick, Irish Olympic Athlete,Tom Parsons, CEO of Gaelic Players Association, John Treacy, Olympic Medallist, Shane Byrne, Former Irish Rugby Union Player and Ciara Peelo, former Irish Sailor. The group debated the highs of their careers, mental health in sport and life after their sports careers. Master of Ceremonies Ivan Yates led the room through a lively auction in aid of the Lighthouse Charity Ireland followed by a good spirited game of heads and tails.

Through the generosity of the attendees, a fantastic amount was raised for the charity on the day from both fundraising initiatives.  The lunch was rounded off by a rousing few words from the MC Ivan Yates.  Guests networked and socialised into the evening against the backdrop of live music. The Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity Ireland Summer Lunch will become an annual event. Next year’s event is scheduled to take place on Friday 26th May, 2023 once again at Croke Park, Dublin.
