The Halloween themed North West Region Autumn Ball held last weekend, brought together 300 guests from across the construction industry – from directors to on-the-ground workers – all eager to support the charity’s mission to improve wellbeing in the sector.
The committee chose an autumn date to avoid the busy Christmas season and make space for a festive, Halloween inspired atmosphere. Guests were welcomed with canapés, drinks, and entertainment, including bongos and a magician, setting a warm, engaging tone for the night. Once inside the guests enjoyed a delicious three-course dinner followed by inspiring speeches from Naomi Denning, Lighthouse Charity Head of Finance, and Bob Beswick from Rugby League Cares, who even led a light hearted paper airplane competition that had everyone participating with enthusiasm.
A highlight of the night was the live auction, featuring items including bikes, a ride-on Range Rover, and even a cuddly toy. Spearheaded by committee chair Aidan, the auction stirred a lively competitive spirit, with enthusiastic bids contributing significantly to the night’s fundraising efforts. A 360º photo booth and a DJ with sax and bongo accompaniments kept the energy high and the dance floor packed until 1:30 a.m, making for an unforgettable evening.
The committee felt a personal connection to the cause, knowing how much our charity positively impacts our construction industry. Many committee members have heard direct testimonials from colleagues who’ve benefited from the charity’s services, underscoring the importance of supporting such a vital organisation. “The feedback we get from those who’ve used Lighthouse Charity is inspiring. Supporting them is essential,” shared Fiona Clarke, a committee member.
As the night drew to a close, the committee felt immense pride and satisfaction. Organising such a successful event was no small feat, but the positive response from guests made it all worthwhile. Energised by the evening’s success, the team is already looking forward to planning their next event.
