Fun at the Midlands Golf Day

10th November 2021

Well, what a fantastic day for the Lighthouse Midlands Golf Day at Forest of Arden on 2oth October 2021! The great British weather tried to cause a few disruptions; however, our golfing teams did not let this dampen their spirits and after a short break, play was resumed as the sun came out across the Arden Championship course! We had Beat the Pro with the fantastic Hannah Bowen, refreshments by our sponsors, Slingsby Gin, and the International Racing Hub kindly sponsored and ran a Par 3 competition on the notorious 18th Hole! Although wet, a great day of golf was had by all!

Winners on the Day:

Individual winner: Gary Ray (RGB – Group)

Individual Lady winner: Marisa Firkins (Safety Forward)

Team winners: Charlie Wakefield, Daniel Jacobs, Mark Elton and Aaron James (Lighthouse Team)

Runner up Team winners: Matthew Boutureira, Francois Blignaut, Antony West, Jack O’Brein (Careys Team)

Nearest the pin: Rob Lynch (L-Lynch)

Nearest the pin 18th hole: Tom Herriots (Ptp-training)

Longest drive: James Forster (L-Lynch)

The evening entertainment, hosted by the brilliant Aaron James, brought lots of laughs and amazing generosity by our guests during the live and silent auction. The generosity and support for the event has so far raised approximately £7000, this does not yet include the amount raised through the auction. This amazing generosity will fund the vital work of the charity, providing emotional, physical, and financial wellbeing support to construction workers and their families across the UK and Ireland. As our CEO Bill Hill explained at the event, the charity receives no public funding and relies on the generosity of those within the industry to help continue this vital work, so it is greatly appreciated!

We would also like to say another big thank you to the staff at the Forest of Arden for looking after everyone so well, Aaron James for hosting the evening, Jim White for capturing the day through his photography and videography, Go Group for organising and running the auction, and for the sponsorship provided by Clee Hill, National Infrastructure Solutions and the International Racing Hub.

We hope everyone will be back to attend next year’s event – look out for the save the date!
