East Midlands Annual Lunch Raises £7500

29th November 2023

In a heartwarming gathering at the Northampton Town Centre Hotel on Silver Street, the East Midlands Annual Lunch on Friday, 24th November, brought together 200 guests for an afternoon of laughter, entertainment, and philanthropy.

The event commenced with an engaging introductory speech by Sarah Bolton, Chief Operating Officer of our charity sharing information about the charitable services available to everyone and providing an update on the number or people supported so far this year. The speech set the tone for the day, emphasizing the significance of our charitable work and uniting the guests in their shared commitment to make a difference.

Jed Stone, renowned for his comedy, added an extra layer of enjoyment, keeping the audience entertained with witty anecdotes and laughter.

In a powerful one-two punch of entertainment, boxing legends Curtis Woodhouse and Jamie Sutherland took centre stage, sharing anecdotes from their careers, and, of course, a healthy dose of humour that resonated with the audience.

The spirit of giving was palpable as various fundraising activities took place, including a lively live auction and the popular “heads and tails” game. In total, an impressive £7500 was raised.

Reflecting on the success of the day, Gary Dorling, Secretary and Treasurer of the East Midlands Lighthouse Club expressed his gratitude, saying, “Thankyou to everyone for their support and donations, even the sprout!!” Gary also extended his appreciation to everyone involved with organising the event and to those who so generously donated items for the auction.

Looking ahead, the East Midlands Annual Lunch is set to return on the 6th of December next year, promising another day of laughter, unity, and generous contributions for our charity. The success of this year’s event only adds to the anticipation for what promises to be another memorable event.
