DP Bespoke swap Heels and Boots to remember lost colleague

20th September 2022

The team from DP Bespoke raised £550 when they ‘walked in someone else’s shoes’ to remember and honour their lost colleague, Ben Gladwish. Tragically, Ben took his own life last August, he was a carpenter and has left behind family, friends and colleagues who miss him dearly.

This fundraising challenge was very close to the team’s hearts and they wanted to raise awareness of all the support available for construction workers and allied trades, especially for those who are feeling suicidal. But they also chose this challenge as a bit of fun and a way to honour and remember Ben. This literally meant that the men donned high heels and the ladies pulled on work boots to walk the mile. Judging by the photo we received the men were very quick to volunteer and managed to find a lovely selection of strappy sandals to wear!

The day itself was wet and rainy but that didn’t put anyone off and they all had a great laugh along the way.

“We hope to have made Ben proud and our fundraising for the Lighthouse Club, is a legacy for him. We want to make sure that everyone knows about all of the support available, especially for those who are feeling suicidal or experiencing suicidal thoughts”

We’d like to say a huge thank you to the DP Bespoke team and we hope your feet have recovered!
