Sunday 9 June was the perfect weather for a scenic run around Derby when Sarah Jardine, and husband Paul, took to the streets for the annual Derby Half Marathon. Sarah commented;
“It was great weather for running, and lovely to run a race that starts and finishes in the heart of the city I call home.”
The route follows the River Derwent for a few miles, before passing through the grounds of Elvaston Castle. Sarah added;
“it really does show Derby at its best for runners who are only visiting the city.”
Although no land speed records were broken, Sarah and Paul have raised over £700 for The Lighthouse Club and draped in our running vest, have helped to spread the Lighthouse Club word!
A special ‘thank you’ to Sarah’s colleagues at HSE who donated a large portion of the money raised.
Sarah explained why she chose the Lighthouse Club;
“Many of us [at HSE] have met families who have been supported by your charity during really difficult times, so we know first-hand what a difference support from the Lighthouse Club can make.”
A few years ago Sarah set herself the challenge of running 10 half marathons before she was 50 – the Derby Half marked the completion of this challenge (with a couple of years to spare)!! Well done Sarah – think its time for a rest now!
