Christmas Charity Challenge Success

17th February 2021

Buckingham Group Contracting Ltd  has raised a fantastic £6,517.25 for our Lighthouse Club Charity.  The Christmas Charity Challenge 2020 was launched by Buckingham Group Chief Executive Mike Kempley who said,

“We aimed to address the extra pressures on the communities in which we work and the constraints upon the funding of most Charities this year”.

An initial £30,000 company contribution was split equally between the Group’s twenty-six busiest projects and Head Office, and a target of £200 additional fundraising, or £800 for Head Office, set per project.

In just four weeks, the final grand total raised by the 2020 Christmas Charity Challenge was £60,164 and this was shared by 29 very worthy charities including ours.

Mike Kempley added,

This is a terrific sum of money which far exceeded any initial expectations of what we thought would be achievable. It is the collective effort of all those involved, and the momentum generated by those leading each of our project’s efforts, that has led to the resounding success of this challenge. We can feel rightly proud of the enthusiasm, motivation and dedication shown by all involved in the challenge, and the difference we have been able to make to the charities selected, particularly at a time when their own fundraising activities have been severely hampered and the call on their services undiminished. This challenge has also given our staff a cause to get behind, beyond the normal, that has inspired a real sense accomplishment and has reinforced the family values that we aspire to as a business. At a time when the current pandemic has meant tougher than normal working conditions for our people, the shot of positivity delivered while fundraising has been welcomed by all“.

Bill Hill, CEO of the Lighthouse Club Charity said,

We are hugely grateful to the whole team at Buckingham Group Contracting Ltd who worked so hard to raise this huge amount and we are honoured to be included in the list of charities receiving a share of the fundraising, Thank you for all the baking, cycling, raffling, not swearing!, wearing Christmas jumpers, running, walking, swimming and all manner of other silliness, that made the 2020 Christmas Charity Challenge a success“.
