Checkatrade recently celebrated outstanding tradespeople from across the UK at the first ever Checkatrade Awards. Held at Lords Cricket Ground in London, over 150 people attended the awards ceremony which was sponsored by headline partner Superscript. The event honoured the top trade professionals who are setting high standards in their fields.
The awards ceremony raised over £7000 for our charity, with generous contributions from attendees supporting both a silent auction and a prize draw. Checkatrade announce Lighthouse Charity as their partner earlier this year and this is one of many fundraising activities taking place to support the industry’s workforce.
With over 1,200 nominations from both their peers and customers, the finalists were chosen by an expert panel, including Checkatrade CEO Jambu Palaniappan, COO Mathieu Proust, and Superscript COO Christopher Barclay.
Sam Henry of SBH Landscaping, a London-based landscape gardener, was named Trade of the Year.
Sam stood out for his unwavering commitment to exceptional service and always delivering top-quality work at a fair price. His kindness, generosity, and dedication to going above and beyond for clients, combined with his professionalism and impeccable results set him apart.
Sam commented: “I’m truly honoured and humbled to have been named Trade of the Year at the Checkatrade Awards 2024. This recognition means so much to me, and it’s a reflection of the hard work and passion I put into my craft every day. I’m incredibly grateful for the support of my clients, whose trust allows me to do what I love. This award is not just for me—it’s for my entire team at SBH Landscaping, whose dedication and commitment to excellence help make every project a success. I believe in delivering high-quality work with honesty and integrity, and I’m so pleased that the judges recognised these values”.
Jambu Palaniappan, CEO of Checkatrade, commented, “The Checkatrade Awards offer consumers the opportunity to recognise tradespeople who go the extra mile in their work, shining a light on the unsung heroes who make a real impact in the homes and lives of others every day. The nation’s tradespeople are invaluable not only to the economy but also to the communities they serve. Their hard work often happens behind the scenes, unnoticed by many, which is why we created the Checkatrade Awards—to ensure these talented specialists receive the recognition they truly deserve.”
