We recently heard from Brown & Mason, one of our Company Supporters who clocked up over 1500 miles to raise awareness of mental health issues in the industry and to highlight the support available for those who need to reach out.
After recovering from their exertions we caught up with them to get the full story.
This year Brown & Mason wanted to approach our charity fundraising slightly differently. With our workforce being both overseas and spread all over the UK we created a remote way everyone could get involved.
Therefore, we thought a challenge where everyone could get involved from the comfort of their own surroundings would be perfect. We did this by setting targets that you could either swim, run or cycle. However, depending on the activity chosen the number of miles you undertook varied, for example, swimming would be 22 miles, running 44 miles and cycling 66 miles and this was all to be completed over 3 months, June- August.
In order to generate our target mileage, we travelled the distance from our Longannet site down to our Gelderland site stopping at each of our 9 sites, including our Head Office. This equated to a total mileage of 1022 and as a team of 27 we completed this and more in 12 weeks ending with a total of 1542 miles.
Lee Brown one of our very own Director’s completed 364 miles of this total, so we believe he deserves a special mention for going above and beyond throughout the 3 months!
We began supporting this life changing charity as they are the only charity 100% dedicated to the emotional, physical, and financial wellbeing support of our construction and demolition community and their families. They receive no public funding and rely on the generosity of those within the industry to help them continue their vital work.
Therefore, when considering a charity that we wished to fundraise for this year, The Lighthouse Club were clearly at the top of our list. Mental health awareness is something that as a company we feel extremely passionate about, and we have many Mental Health First aiders located throughout the company.
We could not be more proud of our fundraising team this year for raising a huge £2904 for this life changing charity, thank you to all involved.
