In a fantastic display of commitment to their industry, BAM Ritchies, a ground engineering specialist, recently organised a spectacular Lighthouse Day event which involved an epic day of walking, running, and cycling.
The company’s affinity for the cause was evident when they organised their first Lighthouse Day in 2022, involving a smaller group. This year, they held the event in two locations – near Marlborough in South England and near Kilsyth in Scotland. The turnout exceeded expectations, with colleagues, friends, clients, and suppliers joining hands to make a difference.
The ten-hour event was a true test of physical and mental endurance. With its fair share of ups and downs, participants faced the challenge head-on, pushing their limits, and relying on the strength of the group to keep moving forward. The collective effort led to an inspiring accomplishment – a cumulative distance covered of more than 2,020km (or 1,255 miles).
Oleg Vainausks, Estimating Manager at BAM Ritchies, captured the sentiment perfectly, stating, “The Lighthouse Charity does some amazing work close to our hearts; as ground engineering specialists, we sometimes get to see first-hand how people within the construction industry get injured or struggle mentally. We are proud to be supporting this incredible charity, and I am personally proud to work for a business that is willing to make a difference.” The success of the event has only ignited BAM Ritchies’ commitment further. With plans to establish an annual tradition of a Lighthouse Day, with even bigger plans for next year!
