Earlier this year, a courageous team from Advance took on the challenge of scaling the tallest peak in Wales to raise funds for our charity. We recently caught up with them to hear about their motivations and how the experience unfolded:
“On 7th September, our External Sales Team, along with our Management Accountant, took on the challenge of hiking to the summit of Snowdon in support of The Lighthouse Charity. As our head office is located in Wales, we felt that climbing the country’s highest mountain would be a fitting challenge. We chose to ascend via the Miners’ Track and descend via the Llanberis Path.
As the photos show, the journey wasn’t always easy. There were moments of fatigue and struggle, but the team demonstrated incredible resilience, rallying together with encouragement, support, and a few laughs along the way.
It was a true test of endurance, but more importantly, it showcased teamwork and camaraderie in action. Reaching the summit was no small feat, and the determination and unity shown throughout the hike is a testament to their commitment. We couldn’t be prouder of their achievement and their dedication to supporting such a worthy cause.
We set off shortly after sunrise, catching the first Sherpa bus from Llanberis at 7:30 am. Although much of the ascent was cloudy, we were rewarded with a cloud inversion near the top and beautiful views from the summit.
We really value the work of The Lighthouse Charity, so it was a privilege to raise awareness and funds for this incredible cause. We work closely with many in the construction sector, and mental health concerns affect us all. Partnering with The Lighthouse to highlight their invaluable work was a great opportunity. Their support for workers in the construction industry is essential to the wellbeing of our workforce – thank you!”
