Yorkshire Construction Industry herald Christmas cheer.....
On the 14th November 2014 the annual dinner of the Lighthouse Club Yorkshire was held at the Marriott Hotel, Leeds and attended by over 250 guests from the construction industry in the region.
The guests attending were in fine spirit and showed their appreciation through their generosity in the live auction conducted by local auctioneers, Colin Crossland & John Roebuck of Watts & Associates Auctioneers Ltd, Barnsley.
The auction this year had a very special appeal as Finnings UK donated one of their new CAT 300-9D Micro Diggers which was successfully purchased by Ronnie Harrod of CATPLANT Ltd, fetching a tremendous £13,000 for the charity. This almost doubled the overall amount raised at the event to £28,000 which set a new record and will bring some Christmas cheer to many construction workers and their families that have been thrown into poverty as a consequence of accident, illness or bereavement.
(Alan Wright - of Wrights of Crockey Hill Ltd and the Lighthouse Club Yorkshire Chairman) “We are absolutely delighted with this record breaking result and especially with the support Finnings UK have given us. This is our biggest event of the year and it is the outcome of a lot of hard work and planning by our volunteer committee. Now that we have set a new benchmark, the question is how we will better it next year.”
(Iain Carpenter, General Manager of Central East region of Finning UK) “The Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity is a great cause and when they asked for our help to supply them an auction prize we did not hesitate. We are extremely happy that the micro digger was bought close to its retail price and that all the funds raised will be going to help support those that are in greatest need within our industry.”
