Our SOUTH EAST has obviously hit on a winning formula with their Annual Dinner. They raised over £17,000 for our charity.
The event was held at the award winning Ashford International Hotel in Kent, famous for its contemporary surroundings, exquisite food and fantastic atmosphere.
The 264 members and guests had a brilliant evening and were royally entertained throughout, first being enchanted and amazed by Chris Harding one of the UK’s foremost close up Magicians who dazzled
them with the mystifying to the absolute impossible. He was followed by Comedian Adger Brown who supplied a stream of laughs throughout his set which covered just about every topic.
Singer Stephanie Benson was also extremely well received as were FUNKification, one of the most sought after function bands in the UK who played their way through classic soul, funk and 70s grooves, before adding a touch of pop and rock.
One of the highlights of the evening was the auction which had something really special up for grabs; a collection of 85 miniature construction industry plant models lovingly acquired by the late John
W Osborne during his lifetime. John, a staunch Lighthouse Club supporter over 30-years donated the collection to the Club when he passed away – the models were originally valued at £1,345 but thanks to the generosity of our bidders by the time the gavel banged they had raised an astounding £3,330. A brilliant tribute to John!
The overall amount raised at this dinner, over £17,000 was an amazing achievement and we’d like to thank all you played a part in its tremendous success!
