Traffex 2017, Europe's largest dedicated highway management and road safety exhibition is partnering with The Lighthouse Club to highlight the serious issue of road worker safety.
Traffex 2017 at the NEC Birmingham, will welcome over 350 companies at the forefront of innovation in traffic management and road safety. They will be presenting new technology that will help to minimise and lower these injury and fatality statistics. One such innovation is set to be on display at the Lighthouse Club Charity stand, as they launch ‘Take5 Construction’, a downloadable mobile app that will record ‘near miss’ data in a more effective and timely manner. The charity will also be promoting its 24/7 construction industry helpline, that offers a portfolio of free advice including occupational health, wellbeing and financial aid.
Bill Hill, CEO of the Lighthouse Club Charity comments: “We are delighted to act as Traffex 2017’s official charity partner, and are looking forward to taking part in this year’s exhibition. Every year there is an average of 40 fatalities within the construction industry, including road workers. These statistics demand attention and this year’s Traffex exhibitors are set to showcase exactly the kind of innovative measures that can produce a strong and positive change. Our charity receives no public funding and relies entirely on the generosity of those within the construction industry to help fund our charitable services to the construction community.”
Over 69,000 new cases of work-related illness reported each year is directly attributed to working within construction - including road and highway maintenance workers. Traffex and the Lighthouse Club look forward to tackling this issue using the resources of the digital age.
Adrian Tatum, Conference Director at Traffex and Parkex 2017, comments: "Traffex has placed a focus on road safety, and prides itself on being the chief catalyst to evolving best practices within the sector. Exhibitors at this year’s event will be displaying some of the most forward-thinking technology in the world, which helps provide a platform for more efficient ways of working. We look forward to watching the collaboration and networking that will come out of the event, and its resulting impact on the sector.”
