The March Ladies Night Dinner and Dance of the South West Lighthouse Club - recently took place at the Langstone Cliff Hotel, Dawlish Warren. Superbly compared by Mark Jenkins, it was well attended with some well known names and
representatives from many different sectors of the regions construction industry.
All money raised on the evening is donated to the Lighthouse Club Benevolent Fund, which provides construction workers and their families with invaluable help in their time of need due to accident, illness or death. The financial help is often provided immediately. In 2012 The Lighthouse Club gave away over £450,000.00 worth of aid and helped over 400 families.
The South West branch was rejuvenated in 2008 and since then has managed to raise an impressive £40,000 for the Benevolent Fund. The Devon Welfare Officer, Susanne Furse set a target on the evening to have reached the magical £50,000.00 by this time next year. This had been given a good start after £4,000 was raised at the Dinner and Dance from ticket sales, items auctioned and a raffle.
New memberships and donations along with social events throughout the year such as a Tamar Boat Cruise, day at Exeter Races and a Golf Day are set to help the Lighthouse Club reach this milestone.
