Guests at a Gala Dinner on the 3rd of July raised an amazing amount of over £7000 in support of the chosen charity of the evening, The Lighthouse Club.
The Constructing Excellence Awards focus attention of some of the most important issues for the sector. The 12 awards categories recognize the very best companies, collaborations and projects to inspire others to adopt new and better ways of working that deliver outstanding results.
Construction is one of the largest employers in the UK and there has been a huge shift in culture over recent years towards improving working conditions and health and safety on the job. However, the industry is very fragmented, predominantly made up of small companies, and behind every incident that does occur there is hardship.
“A key category for our awards is Health & Safety” says Derek Rees, Regional Director, Constructing Excellence “and we have seen some great examples in our finalists and winners over the years”. We chose the Lighthouse Club because we wanted to support the great work of its volunteers – we wanted to help families cope with financial crisis caused by their breadwinner not returning home safely from work one day.”
Constructing Better Health and the Association of Project Safety are joint sponsors of the Health & Safety Award. These two great organisations continuously promote improved professional practices in Health & Safety by setting standards and providing guidance, education and training.
