The South West Club reaches the magical £50k ...
On Saturday 26th April the Annual Ladies Night/ Dinner and Dance at the Langstone Cliff Hotel, Dawlish Warren was held with 120 people attending, that's a pleasing increase on last year. Everyone stayed the night and with the hotel actually overflowing, so some people had to stay in Dawlish town itself!
A minutes silence was held at the beginning of the evening to remember great supporters Steve Clarke and Jenny Curtis, members of the South West Club, who very sadly passed away in the past year. Their families continued support on the evening was much appreciated by all present.
The compare for the evening was once again Mark Jenkins and he ensured the evening ran smoothly.
Games were played throughout the evening - Irish Bingo, card game and casino tables with cash prizes and magnums of champagne to the winners. There was also a big charity auction and prize draw.
We were very pleased to have Bill Hill, our Chief Executive, attend this year, and he was on hand to accept a cheque donation this year to the charity of £13,500. The total now sent by South West to the Benevolent Fund over the last 5 years is amazing £50k.
Everyone enjoyed the 60’s band “Carnaby Street” and the disco, which finished off the evening. With revellers having supper at 2.00 am and the event not finishing until 5.00 am!
The whole evening was superbly organised by Susanne Furse and illustrated what the Lighthouse Club is all about - good fellowship, having fun and at the same time raising money for the less fortunate ones amongst us who are in need of financial help.
