Another successful cruise...
Susanne Furse, Welfare Officer reports:
“The South West Club held its annual Summer cruise from the historic barbican in Plymouth to Calstock travelling through Plymouth sound and the dock yard”.
“The evening was glorious and everyone enjoyed the evening sunshine on top of the “Spirit of Plymouth”.
The boat left Plymouth to the sound of Rod Stewarts “We are sailing”! On board there was a disco, draw and a most delicious buffet. Thanks to Sphere Solutions kind sponsors of the disco”.
“At Calstock there was live music by the Renegades, keeping it all in the construction industry, as Dave is a digger driver and Ann Marie is a dumper drivers wife. The Country and Western music was enjoyed by all the ‘revellers’ on board by the side of the picturesque river”.
“The Pimms were kindly sponsored, once again, by Mrs June Jeffery, the Chairman’s wife, and was as last year served by Tony and Sheila”.
“The English St George flag flew high as it was the evening that England played their opening match in the world cup”.
“The evening was hailed as the best so far and everyone is looking forward to a repeat in 2015”!
