The sixth annual Select Plant Hire Golf Open Championship took place on Thursday 30 July 2015, raising just over £2,500 for the Lighthouse Club...
The event, organised by Paul Taylor, Brett Farrance and Carla Hicks of Select, took place at Wyboston Golf Course – just a few miles from the plant hire company’s St Neots depot. A record number of competitors took part, with 68 individual players from Select, Laing O’Rourke and their supply chain pitting their wits against each other in groups of four over the full 18 holes.
Ian Gosney from Garic had the honour of taking 1st place overall and received the famous claret jug trophy, whilst Brett Farrance received the green masters champion jacket as the highest placed Select Plant Hire player. Rumours Brett has been taking extended lunch breaks to get some practice in on the nearby course are said to be completely unfounded!
Paul Taylor said “It was a fantastic day and despite a few lost balls and a few high scores, I think the majority have had a lot of fun raising money for a fantastic cause that is close to all our hearts. To have so many competitors taking the time to come and support the day has been great and special thanks to all the volunteers from Select and the Wyboston Golf Course for their generosity”.
