Fortunes can be won and lost at the races, but when our WEST OF SCOTLAND hold their annual race night you can bet your bottom dollar that the Lighthouse Club will come out a winner…
This annual event at the historic Hamilton Park Racecourse, which has been staging horse-racing since 1792, is a firm fixture in the branch calendar and always attracts a good crowd for fun, fellowship and a bit of a flutter.
Hamilton Park combines good quality racing with glamour and entertainment and this year they were able
to add glorious weather to the mix. It’s little wonder then that 170 LHC members and guests turned up
to enjoy the thrill of the chase from the luxury of Parade Ring Marqueewhich boasted sumptuous food, a private bar, its own tote and a professional tipster to offer betting advice. Everyone had a tremendous time, wining, dining and gambling and they managed to raise £1,485 for the Lighthouse Club Charity through ticket sales and donations: not bad for our recession-hit industry.
It’s a fairly safe bet to assume we’ll catch up with our race-goers again next year. Our sincere thanks to all who orgainsed, attended or otherwise supported this event.
