Chairman of the Okehampton Young Farmers, Giles Heard presented a cheque for £2500 to the South West Welfare Officer, Susanne Furse and Luke Furse, South West Committee member of the Lighthouse Club at Meldon Village Hall on Tuesday 11th July.
Earlier this year the Okehamption Young Farmers donated £1000 as a result of various fundraising activities, so their support of the Lighthouse Club amounts to a fantastic £3500 this year.
The money raised is a direct result of the Okehampton Young Farmers team work and dedication to support those in need, in addition to competing in a ‘dung run’ they also donated all proceeds from their annual party to the Lighthouse Club Charity.
Giles Heard, Chairman of Okehampton Young Farmers said “The Lighthouse Club Charity helped one of our members during a tragic time and so this is our way of thanking them and giving something back as a token of our appreciation”.
The Lighthouse club Charity helped Rosie Fishleigh, whose husband Paul, was tragically killed on site and Rosie was left with a young family to support. Her son, Simon is a member of Okehampton Young Farmers.
We’d like to say a huge thank you to all of the Okehampton Young Farmers for their support and amazing fundraising this year. Anyone that’s prepared to bag up dung and deliver it to raise money gets a big cheer from us!
