The North West Lighthouse Club’s Annual Ball took place on Saturday 26th November at the Hilton Hotel Deansgate Manchester. The evening was a complete sell out with 330 people attending and helping to celebrate the Lighthouse Club Charity’s 60th Anniversary.
The ball is renowned for its auction and tombola and this year over 560 prizes were included ranging from TV’s and bicycles to Christmas wrapping paper.
The auction was once again another huge success and was well supported by all those who attended.
This year also saw John Dennan, the North West Club Chairman celebrate 15 years as Chairman. The evening began with John being thanked by his son Johnathan on behalf of everyone for all his efforts and support over the years. Sadly, John is stepping down from the role and so was his last annual ball at the helm.
John thanked everyone for their support throughout his term in office and made a special thank you to his wife Lorraine, his son Johnathan and daughter in law, Kate without whom he could not have carried out his duties and arranged such a spectacular evening.
A special tribute was paid to Paul Murray who was the club’s treasurer who passed away suddenly and tragically at the beginning of 2016.Paul’s wife and his two eldest daughters were present on the evening to help and carry on the memory of Paul.
The evening was a huge success and raised over £15,000. Committee members and helpers who organised the evening and made it a great success. As a final and very welcome surprise a cheque for £60.000 to commemorate the club’s 60th anniversary was presented.
John has led the North West Club in raising a huge amount of money for the club and we hope that someone is brave enough to fill some very ‘large boots’!
