Nationwide Traffic Solutions put their fundraising efforts into fifth gear to host a Charity Car Treasure Hunt for a cause close to their hearts at the weekend.
The traffic management company’s ‘Lighthouse Day’ for their chosen charity The Lighthouse Club raised the fantastic sum of £1180 - more than double their initial fundraising target of £500.
The treasure hunt sent teams from NTS’ Head Office, Kirton Lindsey, through surrounding North Lincolnshire villages to a ‘top secret’ location, revealed as Glanford Park, the home of Scunthorpe United FC. Fundraising continued at the venue with bacon butties provided by Scunthorpe café Maseys, live music from local singer Ellie-Mae and band The Acoustic State, photo booth courtesy of Blue Teapot Media, magician Danny Wadsworth, children’s activities, plus a silent auction and raffle. The raffle was undoubtedly one of the day's biggest fundraisers, and you could hear a pin drop as the tickets were drawn.
The treasure hunt winning team were neighbours Sue Blackburn and Kevin Burton from Waddingham, who completed the hunt in the fastest time and answered the most clues correctly. They won an amazing hot air balloon ride as their prize! In second place were Ami Russell and Donella Briggs who won a case of wine. Not bad for a morning of treasure hunting!
Grace Goodall, NTS Business Services Manager, said: “Our Lighthouse Day was a massive success and we’re delighted not just to beat our fundraising target, but to raise more than twice the amount!
“The Lighthouse Club is close to our hearts as they provide financial support to members of the construction community who have been thrown into poverty as a result of illness, injury or bereavement.
“Our event wouldn’t have been possible without donations from local businesses, so we’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who supported! We’d also like to thank everyone who took part in the treasure hunt and congratulate all our winners.”
Derick Fox, The Lighthouse Club Welfare Officer, said: “We’re pleased Nationwide Traffic Solutions is coming on board with us. The event was a great success and we look forward to continuing fundraising with NTS over the next year.
