The Considerate Constructors Scheme has received the first cheque in support of the recently-launched 24-hour Construction Industry Helpline. The £5,000 cheque has come from construction company Mulalley.
The Construction Industry Helpline provides 24/7 support to the construction industry’s workforce and their families on a range of topics including finance, depression, occupational health and wellbeing, illness and bereavement.
Bruce Benson, Operations Director of Mulalley said: “Mulalley is delighted to be the first company to support this unique helpline. We do hope that the rest of the industry recognises, as we did, the need to support our workforce in times of need as we feel sure the industry will benefit greatly from this very special initiative.”
Edward Hardy, Chief Executive of The Considerate Constructors Scheme said: “This is a very generous donation by Mulalley and will ensure that the Construction Industry Helpline can continue its important work providing advice and support to the construction workforce. The Helpline gets no public funding so we’re extremely grateful and would encourage other companies to consider giving to this very worthy cause.”
The new helpline is funded by the Lighthouse Club, donations from individuals, businesses and organisations in the construction industry and through the purchase of wristbands and posters.
Bill Hill, Chief Executive of the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity said: “The Construction Industry Helpline was launched to support the whole construction community in their time of need. The service is free for all the workforce and their families but we need corporate engagement and support. We are delighted that Considerate Constructors Scheme have taken this to heart and have brought Mulalley on board with their generous donation.”
The industry can show their support for the helpline through purchasing the wristbands, which include the helpline’s number and web address and come with a free information handout card, and A2 information posters to display around sites. Wristbands cost £2.50 (+ VAT) each and A2 posters cost £7.50 (+ VAT) each. These items can be purchased from the Scheme by calling 0800 783 1423 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. All profits from the sale of these items will be donated to the helpline to fund its ongoing support to the workforce.
The helpline number is 0845 605 1956 and the website is at www.constructionindustryhelpline.com
