The 21st edition of the Lighthouse Club Midlands Golf Day was held at Hollywood Golf Club, near Solihull, for the 13 teams who enjoyed a warm welcome from the club and a course in excellent condition...
After some early sustenance, the teams had a mixture of a team competition and some individual challenges which were all approached with great enthusiasm. The tree-lined course was accompanied by some pacey greens and just before the rain came in, a putting competition was also run prior to a very welcome evening meal.
Sponsors SM Plant and Stoneway Estates provided superb prizes, as well as the port and wine, so that the winning team of Pacestone all received a Powercaddy bag and the individual winner, Dec Mallon, a Powercaddy to carry it! Runners up received Lighthouse Club whiskey tumblers and golf balls with a bottle of whiskey for the individual winners.
In addition, a number of players ‘Beat the Birdie’ to win a branded shoe bag and caps from European Golf Challenge.
After a superb dinner, further funds were raised through a 'Heads & Tails’ quiz followed by an extended period of socialising...
Many thanks go to Simon Milligan of SM Plant and the (newly elected Chair) Noel McDermott of Stoneway Estates for their hard work and commitment to ensure the continued running of the event and the Midlands Region of the Lighthouse Club.
