Well done Lads!....
Another great event completed and everyone safely home with the money rolling in!
Thanks to all for making it a fantastic trip, look forward to the next one in October 2016!
The 7th Lighthouse Run was held on the 12th and 13th April 2015. This event consists of a drive from John O’Groats to Land’s End in six stages over two days following a pre-set route.
This year ten teams entered the event in vehicles ranging from a very tired looking Nissan Micra driven by Team ‘Bill and Ben’ (the Flowerpot Men?) to Team ‘HPC’ in a Vito van towing a mobile bar… everyone made sure they did not lose them!
As always the drive was great fun with never a dull moment, as each twist and turn presented another challenge from horizontal hail and snow to unexpected road closures and diversions. Of course nobody said that it was going to be easy but in a spirit of good humour and camaraderie, all teams made it to the finish.
At the celebratory dinner, Team ‘HPC’, Gerry and Mark won the trophy for best vehicle, as voted by the other entrants. There was a tie for the closest to the set mileage competition with Team ‘Northern Soul,’ Mark and Paul, and Team ‘Tired and Exhausted,’ Paul and Tony, coming in with identical mileage whilst assuring everyone that they had not followed each other!! The remaining teams were ‘Woodbutcher and Leaky’ and ‘I’m Alright Jack 1-5’- a big thank you to Chris and various family members and colleagues for entering an impressive five teams.
Quotes from the Run:
*‘Tired and Exhausted’: “I think we have gone wrong again, never mind, enjoy the scenery.”
*‘I’m Alright Jack 4’: “We’ve been over the Forth Bridge, why are there 2 Severn Bridges and where are the 5th and 6th?”
The organisers of the event wish to thank the staff at the following hotels:
