My marathon time in the end was 5 hours 53 mins and I found it very tough going and rough on my knees!
They dressed me up as Pinocchio for the race and I crossed the finish line with a man dressed as Thor! Altogether a great day out.
I would like to give a special mention to Tracey Kelly and Sally Cridland who helped with so much of the fundraising - I expect it to total about £4100, which is the most for any of Rift UK Ltd marathon candidates yet. Thank you so much for the opportunity!
Thanks for the opportunity to be part of something special.
What an amazing experience and made all the better knowing that I was raising money for a great cause!
Believe me around 21 miles everyone’s generous donations was the only thing that kept me going. Up to that point I was on target to hit my 4hr finishing time with a steady pace for every previous mile and then my body just crashed. Boy it was hot and I must admit to walking some of the last miles to ensure I finished.
The good thing about the weather was that it brought the crowds out and the atmosphere was absolutely amazing. I finished in 4hrs 33mins delighted to have actually finished but vowing that I would never run another.
A few days on and I am now wondering if I could beat my time if I did it again…..
