With our 60th Anniversary celebrations coming to an end, expectations were sky high as a 1000 guests arrived at the Westminster Park Plaza for the Lighthouse Club Charity’s Christmas Lunch. Billed as the must attend construction networking event of the year the drinks were soon flowing with banter rising to a crescendo.
Guests on our ‘diamond’ anniversary tables were treated to a special VIP reception with the opportunity to mingle with our sporting celebrities; Geoff Hurst, Phil Tuffnell, Matt Dawson, Kriss Akabusi, Keith Wood, AP McCoy and Richard Hughes.
Our MC for the day, Georgie Bingham, Talksport presenter, got proceedings underway and it wasn’t long before everyone was enjoying a gourmet three course meal.
As well as orchestrating a highly entertaining heads round of heads and tails, celebrity auctioneer Charlie Ross soon had everyone reaching for their bidding cards as we witnessed one of the most flamboyant and ‘colourful’ auctions ever
Highlight of the afternoon was our very own Question of Sport quiz hosted by Georgie Bingham. Teamed with Phil Tuffnell were Keith Wood and AP McCoy and they were up against very competitive team captain Matt Dawson, with Kriss Akabusi and Richard Hughes.
The teams attempted to answer questions on ‘home’ and ‘away’, cheated in charades, and participated in some highly entertaining banter and friendly heckling. Geoff Hurst stepped in as question master for his very own round of ‘1966 and all that’ and received a standing ovation from the packed room.
Bill Hill, CEO of the Lighthouse Club Charity said, “We have never had an afternoon as exciting and vibrant as this, it’s been absolutely awesome. Thanks to everyone getting involved in the heads and tails, digging deep to bid in our auctions and buying raffle tickets, we have raised an amazing £200,000.”
The festivities continued well into the evening with guests making the most of the networking opportunities and continuing to get into the Christmas spirit.
Thank you to everyone that made the day so special, we really couldn’t have asked for the event to go any better.
Our gold tables for 2017 are already sold out, but you can still make sure of your seat for this year’s event by booking here.
