Groundforce chooses the Lighthouse Club Charity at their Golf Day......
There may not have been a hole in one, but competition was still fierce at Groundforce’s recent Diamond Anniversary Golf Day at The Belfry.
Organised as part of the Vp group’s diamond anniversary year celebrations, Groundforce were joined by 70 of their key clients for a day of golf. 18 teams of 4, played 18 holes on the renowned Brabazon course, famous for staging four Ryder Cups.
Playing in perfect weather conditions and on an immaculate course, there were team and individual awards up for grabs so there was everything to play for, reputations were at stake!
After a hard day’s play on the course, there was a dinner and the eagerly awaited awards ceremony. This was followed with an audience with former snooker champion and current BBC snooker commentator Denis Taylor, who kept everyone entertained with many tales and experiences from the world of snooker!
Simon Littlewood (Groundforce MD), ably assisted by Denis Taylor, presented 6 awards, the first being to the winning team which comprised Gary Crumlish (Groundforce), Dan Thompson (Select Plant Hire), Tim Pugh (Laing O’Rourke) and James Swales (Expanded). The individual winner award went to Ian White from Vollker Brooks, and the runner up was James Swales from Expanded. Andrew Crick from Tamdown won Longest Drive, Nearest The Pin went to Mark Genny from Costain, and the staff winner was Gary Crumlish.
Simon Littlewood said “The event was a fantastic way to celebrate our 60th year, with some of our key clients joining us for an excellent day’s golf and evening entertainment at a wonderful and historic location. A big thank you to all the staff at The Belfry, who looked after us superbly. It was great to have Denis Taylor with us and his after dinner speech was brilliant.
Groundforce would like to thank everyone who contributed to our chosen charity, The Lighthouse Club, and we were delighted to raise £1090.
