Clugston marked its 75th anniversary
at the end of October by presenting a number of charities with donations generated from a fund set up to leave a lasting legacy from events held during 2012. The Lighthouse
Club were one of the ten charities nominated by Clugston staff to benefit from the funds. Allan Hemmings , Chairman of the Lincolnshire Branch was presented with a £7.5k cheque by chairman John Clugston and Chief Executive Stephen Martin.
Various fundraising events took place throughout the year including a 38 mile cycle ride, the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge, an 8 mile night time walk ,a 10km swim at Ponds Forge in Sheffield along with many others.
Having set themselves what was initially felt to be an ambitious target of raising £75,000 in 2012 - the figure by October had exceeded this with a couple of months left to run. Supported by customers,
suppliers, directors, employees, as well as employee family and friends, who took part in a series of events and challenges, the total currently stands at £84,000.
Clugstons Chief Executive , Steve Martin said:
"Whilst acknowledging our past, we were keen to leave a legacy from our anniversary year that would benefit the wider community. Clugston has a long tradition of working with charities, which is why we set ourselves the ambitious target to celebrate our anniversary by raising £75,000 for charities nominated
by our own employees. Over achieving the target we initially set ourselves is down to the fantastic efforts of all those who organised, took part in, or sponsored events throughout the year."
