The sun shone once again for for East Anglia...
This year, as with previous years the Annual Lighthouse Charity Golf day was held at Hintlesham Hall Golf Club near Ipswich, which is set in 150 acres of tranquil Suffolk countryside and boasts a challenging 6,500 yard Par 72 golf course.
The day was bathed in sunshine for the 36 golfers who all sat down to a bacon and coffee breakfast before making their ways to their allocated tees for the shotgun start of 18 holes of Stableford golf at 12 noon.
All the golfers were back in the club house for well-earned refreshments at 17.00hrs followed by a three course meal of Chicken & Bacon Salad with Caesar Dressing, Roast Beef and all the trimmings and Chocolate Brownies and Ice Cream to finish, delicious!
Mark Swan, Chairman, gave a short talk to the guest about The Lighthouse Club, which was followed by the prize giving.
The longest drive was won by Steve Rees of Checkmate Fire Solutions and the nearest the pin was one by Steve Merrigan from Barratt Eastern Counties.
In third place, for the team Stableford with a score of 120 points, was Checkmate Fire Solutions which consisted of Pat Murphy, Paul Marshall, Steve Rees and Mike Honey.
In second place with a score of 131 points was Knight Group which consisted of Steve Maguire, Alex Rudge, John Ripon and Peter Castle.
The winning team with a score of 134 was from Barratt Eastern Counties which consisted of Steve Merrigan, David Girling, Danny Clark and Joe Walsh.
The individual Stableford winners were, in third place Danny Clark from Barratt Eastern Counties with a score of 40 points, in second place Peter Castle from Knight Group who scored 41 points off a handicap of 6 and in first place was Steve Maguire of Knight Group with a very impressive score of 44 points.
