Wednesday 21st June saw the third Annual “QMS Fairway to Devon” Charity Golf Competition in support of The Lighthouse Club. Held on the magnificent Championship Course at The Dartmouth Golf and Spa Hotel, the 60 players hit the fairways in the gorgeous sunshine for the Shotgun start armed with their Bogart Balloons, Frayed Knots and Pink Balls.
Around the course the competitors had to overcome holes where they needed to swap shots with their playing partner and others where only one club could be used from the tee to the green, (which made interesting playing taking a 5 wood from the green-side bunker!).
The 10th tee was armed by The Striker, Paul Barrington who throughout the round challenged the participants to ‘Beat the Pro’ with a longest drive and then amazed the crowd at the end of the round with a fabulous trick-show performance with full participation from a number of ‘willing’ volunteers!
Following a short presentation from Bill Hill, CEO of The Lighthouse Club Charity, prizes for the day were presented to the winners. Andrew Teuton from Kier Highways scooped the winning individual and walked off with a new Motorcaddy Electric Trolley, whilst the team from Jet Plant secured the winning team and each left with the latest Taylormade Golf Bags.
The day raised a fantastic £2,200 for the charity, which brings the running total raised for The Lighthouse Club by QMS to £20,000 since 2011.
