Brewing up some fundraising at the 2014 National Annual Charity Dinner....
November 27th heralded the 58th National Annual Charity Dinner in the splendour of the Brewery in the heart of the City of London.
Over 530 supporters donned their glad rags for this “black tie” event in support of our charity. Being so close to Christmas everyone seemed in a generous and party mood and were royally entertained by Adger Brown as MC, Bats In the Belfry, a young jazz duo, All the Kings Men, a student a cappella group from King’s College London, the stunning close up magic of Laura London and the beautiful singing voices of the classically trained Elysium III.
During the evening one of our beneficiaries Tony Hogan gave a very moving speech on how our charity helped him through a tough time after a near fatal accident. We also used the occasion to recognise some people who have gone “one step beyond” in their efforts to support us. These were:
*Laing O’ Rourke for their £20,000 donation
*Canary Wharf Contractors Fund for their £20,000 donation
*Hewden,Morgan Leyzan and Thimbleby & Shortland for the auction that raised £20,000
*Burdens for their golf day that raised £16,300
*Ardent Tide and BITA for their golf day that raised £10,300 and
*Barclays Real Estate, who managed to raise through a whole series of events £40,000
The “Peter Capel” Cup awarded to outstanding individual fundraising went to Rob Lynch for climbing Mount Kilimanjaro and raising £10,000 and finally, for the second year running the Southern Lighthouse Club won the Lighthouse Club “Cox” Trophy for gaining the most members in the year.
The evening itself raised a magnificent £30,000 and it just goes to prove it is possible to organise a “good party” in a Brewery!!!
PLEASE NOTE: In 2015 we are combining the National Annual Charity Dinner with our Construction Industry Charity Christmas Lunch Party to create one huge event. This will be held at the Park Plaza, Westminster on the 4th December 2015. We hope to attract over 1000 guests for a monumental celebration to launch the beginning of the 60th anniversary year of the Lighthouse Club.
Please book early as this will be a sellout!! Click the link HERE to book.
