Branch News
2/7/07
Early last month Cork Branch played for their Captains Prize at the renowned Fota Golf Resort. This year’s Captain is Ambrose Guilfoyle and 59 players joined him in the competition which was played in glorious conditions. The winner was Michael Murphy, scoring 40 points. Second man was the famous Cork hurling goalkeeper Ger Cunningham with 38 points and John Hogan of John A Wood fame was third on 35 points.
One of our members had a hole in one at the 11th hole and another, (who shall remain nameless) had a magnificent two at the very difficult 17th to win the watch.
The event was very kindly sponsored by T & A trading who are a large builders supplier in Cork, and they are very pleased with the support that was given to ‘their’ event. Organiser Harry Matson says “A big thank to all who took part and we look forward to seeing you all on 23 rd August”.
That date will be Cork Branch’s next gathering on the golf course, this time at the regular venue of Lee Valley Golf Club. This will be a three man team event which is sponsored by long established supporters John A Wood Ltd.
