Branch News
Chairman Peter Laurence presided over the Branch AGM which was held at Drayton Park on the 6th April.
He was able to report another successful year for Central Branch. The Christmas Lunch had been a
tremendous success; organised by Alan Davies, the event was sold out weeks before it took place.
Although some discussion took place regarding a change of venue, it was decided to stick with a
seemingly guaranteed success rather than find new accomodation.
Earlier in the year, a racing evening at Windsor attracted good support, and generated plenty of
fun, but, reported Mark Stayt, the concessionares at Windsor and at Newbury were being more and
more demanding to the point where a repeat this year was proving not to be viable. As a
replacement, Mark will be looking into arranging a go-cart evening aimed at younger members and
their friends.
Once again, Michael McKenna's gift of the use of Drayton Park made for another succesful Golf Day
with a turn out of 18 teams, and committee member Alan Davies, who organises events at Drayton
Park, confidently forecast as good a turn-out for 2005.
Welfare Officer Neil Topping reported a quiter year on the welfare front, but nonetheless had to
announce that he was unable to take on any further cases. Neil will continue to oversee those
cases that he has on hand, but declared that pressure of work meant that his resignation as Welfare
Officer was unavoidable. In the immediate future Chairman Peter Lawrence will act as the contact
for welfare enquiries.
